As the doctor ages he gets younger and sillier. He’s over 1,000 now, I think. And – oh, I just like him. His lack of cynicism. He’s like a baby. He wants to sniff, to taste, everything; he’ll never dismiss anything. As we get older – perhaps I’m just speaking for myself – we can get too cynical. If he had a… bath, it would be filled with rubber ducks which could talk or something; he’d find a way to reinvent the common bath. And I admire that. [x]

Don’t blink. Blink, and you’re dead. Don’t turn your back. Don’t look away, and don’t blink. Good luck.

  • After it was announced that the soon-to-be-infamous Doctor Who s7e05 was being filmed in New York, a few people started joking that the Statue of Liberty was a weeping angel. Considering today’s filming took place in Central Park, this was all I could think of. The Bethesda Fountain. The creepy animation of it is from the HBO adaptation of Angels in America, where that turn of a head first began to haunt my dreams.

If this Central Park filming means Bethesda Fountain ends up being a weeping angel,

I swear to god Moffat I will hate you forever.

All of time and space. Everything that ever happened or ever will. Where do you want to start?

There was a goblin, or a trickster. Or a warrior. A nameless, terrible thing. Soaked in the blood of a billion galaxies. The most feared being in all the cosmos. And nothing could stop it, or hold it or… reason with it. One day it would just drop out of the sky and tear down your world.

Did anyone else notice this*?

*”This” being how TARDIS-like that cabinet and sconce were? The ‘shop job in frame 2 is mine, obvi.

I didn’t like “The God Complex” because it forced me to have real, stomach-churning emotions about the fact that one day Amy will end her TARDIS tenure and I’m not ready for that.

“The Girl Who Waited”

I love that Moffat and the DW writers are exploring echoes of what they’ve already established. It is so literary and so beautiful.

Example: establishing that the word “doctor” and its meaning as a healer or a savior comes from The Doctor and echoing that with Amy’s nickname “The Girl Who Waited” being balanced in Rory (“The Boy Who Waited”) as well as her own future self.

It’s the idea that our nicknames become self-fulfilling prophecies as well as nomers, with all past and future selves defined under that one term. It’s such an amazingly complex and simple thought at the same time… such brilliance.

How I Met The Doctor

Tardis

When I was in Los Angeles in June, my friend Jake and I were milling around outside the Upright Citizen’s Brigade Theater waiting for another friend to put us on the list for his show.

While we waited, we decided to go into a bookstore we’d passed and look around. We’d been in there for about fifteen minutes when the door jangled open. Over a row of video tapes, I spotted a young man in a leather jacket with shaggy hair. He had rushed into the shop and was anxiously going through a few books on the shelves. He seemed to be looking for something and was annoyed when he couldn’t find it.

I watched him. When he looked up, my brain did a flip flop. He looked really familiar. He looked….he looked like someone I knew, maybe? No, that wasn’t it. He looked like a celebrity…he…was he a celebrity? All of a sudden it came at me like a rush. It was the Doctor.

At that point in my life, I’d never seen an episode of Doctor Who. I’d seen .gifs and stills on Tumblr though. His face is unmistakable.

“What’s up?” Jake asked, realizing I was staring at some dude as he rifled through pages in books.

“I think he’s from Doctor Who,” I whispered. “I’m not sure. I don’t watch it.”
