Why do you make Drinny graphics with Draco/Ginny as people other than Tom/Bonnie?

Short answer: I never liked movie!Ginny and by default, Bonnie was never my Ginny. I think she did a fine job with the material but she is one of the weakest child actresses in the franchise. This is just one of the factors but it’s a big one. I think Tom is wonderful in his role and he did a great job with Draco’s character, but they do come as a pair.

Long answer: In addition to the above, availability of photographs is a huge thing when choosing a graphic-cast. Bonnie and Tom are thin on HQ photos. The biggest reason is now that I’m older I refuse to write chan fanfic or read it really. Not only is it a little squicky, it’s just unrealistic (when I was 13/14 I totally read/wrote that stuff! So not making a moral judgment at all). If my D/G are older, my D/G headcast should be older. I like Deborah Ann Woll for my teen/twenties Ginny lately and Boyd Holbrook is an old favorite but I think they just suit the personalities of the characters really well. My postwar/Epilogue!D/G are Alexander Skarsgård and Amy Adams. This is partially because of “Promises” and partially because I just like them in those roles and partially because they could easily play epilogue-compliant Draco or Ginny. Her disillusionment, his bitterness and resentment. Over zealous answer for a basic question! But I have a lot of feelings about this :| Also, pretty people looking down!

USE ME | Draco/Ginny fic | Hogwarts-era | Smut/Angst | 1&2 of 4 | Rated: M/X | link | mirror

A/N: Please fully read the archive warnings. This fic features rough sex (not really noncon but I wanted to be overzealous with possible trigger warnings) and abuse kinks, including breath play and light blood play. Do not read if this makes you uncomfortable.

Ginny’s been having urges, but she can’t ask anyone who loves her to give her what she really craves. When you need someone to use you, you should ask someone who doesn’t care about you.

“I want someone to fuck me and not love me. I want someone to bite me and scratch me and hold me down and use me. I’m sick of being precious and treated with caution. I’m not breakable, and I have needs,” she explained, her eyes giving him a smoldering stare. “Hate me, and fuck me.”

The Killers - Mr Brightside & Three Days Grace - I Hate Everything About You. I have always wanted to read a Drinny fic of which follows the song lyric, or storyline from either one of these two songs. Especially, "I Hate Everything About You," it describes Drinny for me perfectly! :)

I Hate You | D/G | PG | Post DH | mirror

Ginny shoved his hands off of her waist as she kept walking down the street. It was getting late, and the night had not gone how she wanted. She was disgusted by his hands on her, irritated by him calling her name, catching up to her.

The row they’d had in public was neither of their finest hours, but she held her head high knowing it wasn’t her fault. She just had to deal with the indignation that came with being right.

Draco fell out of step with her, letting her get a full half block away from him before he called after her. “I’m sorry,” he admitted. His voice cut through the chilly night, the lamps on the street giving everything an eerie glow. He had said it before, he said it nearly daily, but it always made her melt.

She paused her stepping but didn’t turn around.

“I can still hate Granger, can’t I?”

That made her turn on her heel. “I’d rather you try not to, but you can do whatever you bloody like, Draco. You just can’t say that’s the reason anymore.” Her words released visible breath into the air, the vapor rising and dissipating.

Draco frowned, crossing the distance between them with even steps. “It’s a cultural thing. I don’t feel venom when I say it,” he explained. “You know I don’t mean anything by it.”

“Not everyone does though, Draco. You can’t say it. Ever again,” Ginny warned him, shaking his touch from her arms when he tried to pull her close. “I’m serious.”

“Fine,” Draco agreed reluctantly, raising his hand in surrender. “I will not call anyone a Mudblood. Ever again.” He sighed heavily with the promise, a puff of vapor from his lips. “Now will you let me take you home?”

“Will you take me home to yours?” Ginny crossed her arms across her chest, leveraging her anger as it receded. She didn’t want to cut the night short because of something so stupid. She especially didn’t want to spend the night curling up in her bed at the Burrow alone.

“Not angry I won’t,” Draco countered, giving her a small smirk. He was beginning to warm her, and he knew it. He offered his hand for her to hold.

Ginny reluctantly slid her fingers over his, letting their hands embrace. “I hate you, Ferret-face,” she murmured affectionately.

“I hate you too, Weasel,” he squeezed her hand, cupping her cheek with his free hand before laying a tender kiss against her lips.

Theirs wasn’t an easy love. It was full of fights and ideological differences, of stubborn decisions and asking for forgiveness. Most of all it was full of understanding: neither of them had been willing to change for anyone else. They had both been fumbling in the dark before finding one other, and despite the bumps there was no one who understood the other better than the one holding their hand.

Draco pulled back, savoring the taste of her kiss as he brought their entwined hands to his lips instead. He laid a sweet kiss on her—in his opinion—painfully simple engagement ring before lowering their arms. “Come on,” he encouraged her softly.

She lead them to begin walking again, sliding his hand to her waist again, letting him hold her. He squeezed her close, burying a kiss in her hair as they strode down the street. Together.

The Last Moment | D/G | PG | Post DH | mirror

Ginny took a deep breath, laying her head against her mother’s shoulder. Molly was stuck somewhere in her grief—still calm, but the adrenaline leaving her. When they had all settled again Fred’s death would be a gaping hole again.

She had been waiting for Harry to come back into the Hall, wanting to have a moment with him just the two of us. She watched Luna approach him and share a few words before Luna turned to the window.

“Oooh, look, a Blibbering Humdinger!” Luna cried and a few head turned in confusion. Ginny watched Harry pull his invisibility cloak over his head and disappear. She scanned the space he’d stood wondering where he’d gone, when Ron and Hermione stood at once, still holding hands as they silently left the Hall.

Ginny squeezed her mother’s shoulder, slowly standing. She stepped around her brothers, and intended to follow the trio but as soon as she’d left the Hall a hand gripped her arm and tugged her from her path.

Her reaction was to yelp but she found a hand clasped over her mouth as she was pinned back against the wall. Draco’s eyes were dull, but she nodded gently once she recognized him. He removed his hand from her mouth and stood straight, tugging his blazer flat again.

“Can we talk?”

All thoughts of finding Harry fell from her mind and Ginny looked back to the open doors of the Great Hall. She thought to her family and his just inside the room. “Sure,” she agreed, following him quickly off the corridor into an abandoned classroom. He shut the door behind her, surprised as he noticed the whole back of the room had been demolished. The view of the highlands, bright and blue, were just outside. She was distracted at how beautiful things seemed framed by the rubble remains of the stone wall.

“They’re going to send me to Azkaban,” Draco finally spoke. He was behind her, his back to the shut door as he stood on unsure legs. He wanted more than anything for Ginny to tell him it would be okay.

It had been a long wandering trek for the two of them, months of quiet shared embraces as she tried to convince him to run. To turn himself in. He never could. It had destroyed them, and he had been watching her pull closer to Harry ever since.

“They are not,” she frowned, turning now to face him. He looked broken. He had dirt all over his face, his hair was greasy from the long night and his worried hands working through his scalp. He was so very uncomfortably not his usually composed self.

“Let’s run,” he pleaded. Three months ago she would have done anything to hear those words from him. She would have gone with him without a second thought.

“Draco,” she warned him softly and he kept his quiet, looking up as he rubbed at his face in exhaustion.

“Don’t be with him,” Draco finally offered. He voice was soft, inviting. Tender in the way it used to be with her.

She approached him, pulling his hands from his face, forcing him to take her in.

“He doesn’t love you. He doesn’t love you like I love you,” Draco pleaded with her, cupping her cheek, stepping close to her, just shy of a kiss. Ginny angled her face away, not in the mood to kiss. Not with Fred’s body a stone’s throw away. She kept his hand at her cheek as a comfort to them both.

It dawned on Ginny that this was likely to be the last moment they would ever have like this. Even if he didn’t get sent to prison, even if she left that room and didn’t look back. They would never be friends, they could never be close again.

Worst of all, she knew he wasn’t lying. Harry didn’t love her like he wanted to. She would always love him just a bit more. It would always be unequal between them.

“I need to get back to my family,” she said softly, eyes wide as she peeled his hand from her skin finally, stepping back. Draco knew he should do the same.

“Don’t forget me,” he requested, but it sounded like an order. He stepped aside to let her at the door.

Ginny stepped towards him, pressing her lips against his one last time. He tasted like soot and sweet basil and hopelessness. It broke her heart.

“As if I could forget,” she murmured, pressing her nose against his in a lingering moment before she reached for the door handle and returned to the Hall.

D/Gr Drabble Drive

Leave me a prompt in my ask, and I’ll flesh it out into a drabble. Examples of a good prompt: a set of song lyrics, a set of circumstances, something that references a genre, anything specifically non-AU or canon based. D/Gr though I will accept Draco or Ginny separate.

Three Thousand Days of Innocence: a D/G fic

Coming back to fandom as an adult has been really interesting. I don’t have patience for shitty fic or bad graphic manipulations (straight up some Draco/Hermione shit is especially embarrassing). I kind of refuse to call pairings by their ‘Bennifer’ names, because I was around BEFORE THAT WAS A THING.

I’m applying my grown up, well-honed taste to fandom which seems utterly mad to do but sometimes, just sometimes, I find the good stuff. This story is incredible and lush and beautiful, it’s well paced, well rounded, and features all characters in-character (so rare!). I thoroughly enjoyed it, even if the plot was a little eye-rolly in the beginning. Can’t help but rec it.

D/G vs. R&J

amynessed:

I really don’t like that Drinny shippers sometimes compare Draco and Ginny to Romeo and Juliet because I seriously hate that story. -.-

I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. People who make this comparison are just totally mis-reading R&J, which is okay. They don’t get that it was Shakespeare poking fun at youth and at infatuation, at irrational behavior altogether. It’s no mistake that the play begins with Romeo already in love with another, it’s your first sign that he’s done this over and over again, but with Juliet he meets someone just as desperate for obsession.

Draco/Ginny is about a hatred of families, yes, but also two sides of a civil war. It’s about powerful characters being withheld by duty and obligation in different directions. They are characters that both had abbreviated childhoods, not out of will but circumstance. They are both victims and both survivors. It’s (in so many ways) a more sophisticated love story to imagine.

PROMISES | A Draco/Ginny Epilogue-compliant fic | Drama | Rated: M | link & mirror
PROMISES | Companion mixtape | 14 songs | tracklisting & mirror

Ginny had always sensed there would be wild adventures with her and Harry. The early days of their time together—fighting evil and playing sport—felt like lifetimes ago. The most adventuresome thing they had done together in recent memory was a spontaneous shagging in the garden. It was so domestic. The greatest wizard of his generation, and his wife, getting their thrills from a shag in the garden. She had never thought this future would be hers.
