Also, I did this UN tour thing yesterday. It was kinda neat being where all those world leaders have been before.

At the same time? It was kinda lame.

I’ve always kinda known the UN was this passive organization which sometimes helps kids and poor people in places they want to, but (and yes, for your information, I am very uninformed) they essentially have no power. Only the security council has binding resolutions, but even so, the US is a permanent member, so really we nor any of the permanent members have to pay any attention to those silly resolutions.

Oh, UN, you so crazy.

I’m not one to dwell on issues past, and I’m not going to argue against BAL’s thought on this. That said, I take issue with so many Republicans attempting to take the moral high ground on issues involving sex and civil rights.

I will say this: In today’s society, in our two-party political system, you don’t fit, none of us do.

In the stereotype, there are liberals and conservatives, and all of this is fiscal. Conservatives want smaller government and less spending on a Federal level, Liberals are willing to pay the taxes to fund things like preschool, public education, and some kind of healthcare system that will cover the majority of people who can’t afford such expenses.

Under the previous administration, we had the willingness to spend TRILLIONS of dollars on a war, yet there is a dispute as to whether we should spend BILLIONS on the education of our youth.

Republican and Democrat are ideals at this point, and it all comes down to social services.

Fundamentalist ideals no longer have to be a part of what we stand for whether it be race, religion, or social standing.
